Hello Phil --

Although I believe that your heart in the right place, some (the majority?) participants of this forum may not be receptive to the idea of "standards" ... the reason is that some (most?) are niche-players who directly benefit from proprietary and/or non-standard methodologies/analyses ... to me, it seems that the main benefactors of an environment with standards are large firms who can take advantage of economies-of-scale, with the ultimate result of squeezing-out the small "specialists" who are clever and can work in a varied atmosphere

Regarding the specific area-of-interest that you mention in your post, our firm already can take ANY existing print-image file (from any tab package) and produce an easy data-feed for spreadsheet analyses and/or graphing. As you suggest, it's not that difficult, but there's no reason to try to develop a "standard" ... "standards" will only aid the big, non-clever corporations

Stan
