Hey Sherm!

I must say that I both agree and disagree with you on this issue.

On the disagreeing hand, note that your "mind's eye model" ASS-U-MEs that management IS selecting the appropriate research. In my past lives, I've seen HORRIFIC outcomes due to a slick salesman (read: owner of the firm) posing as a researcher.

The ONLY reason things got back on track toward the right end of the appropriateness scale was, honestly, the absolute resolve and tenacity of me and another guy in the firm fixing the crap that had spewed forth from the bowels of this individual. Our actions saved the company's butt - plain and simple. And on more than one occasion. So for me, this dishonest, money-grubbing, "ka-ching" type of attitude is EXACTLY why I left.

However, on the agreeing hand, I do agree that IF research is conducted properly, and is analyzed properly, and is presented properly, THEN if it goes "off track", you can blame management.

But in the final analysis, I'm not sure if this bout isn't a draw.
