Help! Need help determining market size.

I'm hoping someone on this board might be of help. I'm in the middle of a research project for Business School and I need to know the current size of some consumer markets ... but I'm running up against walls.

If anyone knows any of the following, or knows where I might look for the statistical information, your input would be GREATLY appreciated. If you have an answer I'll need some source for confirmation.

1. The total market size for extended warranties sold in the US and/or globally. I need a dollar figure for the market. It would also be great to know the growth rate of the market over the last few years.

2. The total market size for the rebate processing industry, again US and global. I need to knw the total dollar amount of the offered promotions as well as the number of promotions processed. Again, industry growth information would be great as well.

3. The total number of product or warranty registration cards returned to manufacturers in 1999. 1998 and 1997 too?

I have found a couple of promising sources for the information, but as this is a school project I can't afford to pay a professional company for their reports.

I appreciate ANY and ALL help in this matter. I still have a couple of months to finish my project, but I want to get the maximum amount of background as early as possible.
