I disagree. I don't think (when screened by phone) respondents should know that their potential participation depends on how they answer the screening questions. I prefer seeing the interviewer/recruiter go into the questions, then terminating if they don't meet the screening criteria. Why? If you tell them (in any language) that they are being "qualified," you put temptation in front of them. Temptation to answer in a way to get accepted or rejected (depending on whether or not they want to participate). I'd rather have unbiased, honest answers.
