Believe me, you are the ONLY project director-type person that I've ever encountered that handles datas file ... even in my previous life as a researcher/project director, I didn't have a clue about data & files and such ... in that respect, please bear in mind that you are "special"
Your points are valid if the entire bulk of the survey is skipped and only demos are collected from non-targetted respondents ... my comments were directed at those who want to examine how non-targetted respondents answer questions that aren't really applicable or are way off-base for some "nice-to-know" types of analyses
