Interesting. I've always felt it was a bad idea to let them know that they may not be able to participate in the survey (and get the incentive) if they answer the questions "wrong." On the other hand, you bring up a good point. It is a good idea to tell them how long the survey is. Perhaps it would be a good idea to tell them "the survey could take up to 20 minutes, depending on how you answer the questions," then include them in the incentive even if they don't qualify. Of course, even telling them this much has it's potential problems. It may cause a few to try to guess the shortest path through the survey.

You bring up another great point. The use of industry jargon with respondents. The one that bugs me even more than "screen" and "quota" is "join our panel" (on a Web site). How in the world is the general population supposed to know what a panel is? I think "share your opinions," or something like that would be much better.
