If you're confident with the results that from "free surveys", then by all means, go for it
Of course, being on the other side of the fence so long (tabulations / data processing of survey results) it's interesting that the old adage "garbage in, garbage out" is demonstrated over and over again in data collection for the market(ing?) research industry
Personally, we give software recommendations to those who ask to do simple web surveys from their own home page ... but this isn't the type of work that our company is interested in doing anyway.
If a client wants high-security, data validation, and numerous other controls by a professional web survey outfit, then you will find free/DIY web surveys severely lacking
